For the 10th consecutive year, on Friday 8^th April, the pharmaceutical industry DEMO organized the Voluntary Blood Donation Day for its employees. The blood donation was held at DEMO’s facilities in collaboration with the Greek General Hospital ‘Evaggelismos’.

The blood units that are collected each year are used to meet any urgent need that might arise, not only for the employees of the company, but also for their families (children, parents, spouses, and friends). Throughout the years, this activation has been proved salutary for many DEMO employees in need.

According to evidence, 2 out of 10 patients, on average, in every hospital require blood transfusion. Thus, the annual blood needs of our country exceed 550.000 – 600.000 units. Consequently, we find ourselves in the unpleasant position to import blood from the Swiss Red Cross.

The Blood Donation Day for DEMO employees is part of DEMO’s CSR program, employee voluntary sector. Starting from this year, it will take place twice a year, in April and in November.
